You may wonder how such a great line of hand crafted products came into being. Let me tell you. My name is Chris and my wife is Yvonne, and we started InteriorMetalDesigns.com in 2006.

But I’m getting ahead of myself. In 2005 we began to realize there was no such thing as job security, no way to be certain any job would last forever, or even just “long enough.” We knew it was time to find other options, and one of my dreams, running our own business, became a possibility.

Now, to begin with, I knew I wanted to sell online, so I started searching for an established business for sale – that had to be a lot easier than starting from scratch! Besides, we didn’t know anything about setting up a retail Website and didn’t have any online selling experience.

Eventually I found what I was looking for: an established business at the right price with a great product we didn’t have to warehouse. We were excited, and began negotiating with the owner, imagining that our dream of owning our own business was about to come true.

Well, it just didn’t happen – we never completed negotiations and found ourselves back at the beginning. But . . . I’d already fallen in love with those products, beautiful hand crafted metal works by independent studios and artists. They were really incredible!

. . So you know how love will make you do crazy things? All my plans went right out the window and I decided to start my own business from scratch – the one thing I hadn’t wanted to do!

It wasn’t easy, and we’ve learned a lot along the way – starting with finding studios and artists willing to sell their metal works through us. (That alone was a challenge: there are just a few of these professional artists and they’re hard to find!) But all the toil and trouble have definitely been worth it. We have our very own online business, selling products we absolutely love.

Today we’re constantly working to improve your shopping experience here at Interior Metal Designs, and hope you visit us often to wander through the online store we’re so proud of.
